06/01 - 07/01 - NEW YEAR’s CONCERT - DR Concert Hall
At this New Year’s Concert - the swinging DR Big Band and a string of strong voices from the Scandinavian jazz scene together with super crooner Curtis Stigers will present musical highlights from a never ending Las Vegas era by duplicating the swinging and jazzy tunes that was performed at The Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas between legendary Frank Sinatra and the Count Basie Orchestra. This will be a memorable concert for all lovers of “Old Blue Eyes” - Ella Fitzgerald and the swinging Count and his Orchestra.

HRH Crown Prince Frederik will be proclaimed HM King Frederik X of Denmark from the balcony of Christiansborg Palace, where the Danish Parliament resides - after his mother HM Queen Margrethe II announced on 31 December 2023 that she would abdicate on 14 January 2024. HRH Crown Princess Mary will at the same royal ceremonial occasion become HM Queen Mary of Denmark, and will be beside her husband King Frederik X on the balcony. It’s expected that Danes from all over the Danish Kingdom will gather on the Square of Christiansborg Palace to celebrate their new King and Queen.
16/01 - TRIO con BRIO & NILS MÖKEMEYER - Black Diamond - Copenhagen
Trio con Brio Copenhagen performs one of music history's great love triangle dramas together with the innovative violist Nils Mönkemeyer in 2024. On this evening, the piano trio Trio con Brio Copenhagen invites the German violist Nils Mönkemeyer to join them on stage in the Queen's Hall in a musical programme with works by Brahms and Robert Schumann. The concert is the last of a series of three concerts with piano and the last of a series of three concerts with piano quartets. Trio con Brio Copenhagen - "Con brio" is Italian and means "with energy", and with Copenhagen as their base, the trio has toured the world with their fresh, contemporary approach to the classical repertoire.

05/02 – HM QUEEN MARY’S BIRTHDAY - AND NATIONAL FLAGDAY
HM Queen Mary’s Birthday will be celebrated on the balcony of Frederik VIII’s Palace by the Danes and Copenhageners at noon 12.00 - where people by tradition gather at the square of Amalienborg Palaces and wave the Danish flag for the Queen and her family. The Royal Guard will be dressed in red gala uniforms and will play many birthday songs for the Danish Queen. Visitors - who are in Copenhagen - should experience this popular and traditional event in royal surroundings and join in to celebrate a very popular Danish Monarch.
11/02 - FASTELAVN - SHROVETIDE 2024 - Copenhagen
Visitors in Copenhagen will in February experience youngsters of all ages dressed up in colourful costumes of their favourite idols and attend the “Fastelavn” feast by competing to smash the wooden barrel with a lot of “goodies" inside. The Danish Tradition of Fastelavn is also called the “Nordic Halloween” or “Costume Carnival” - and can trace its origins to the Christian observance to mark the time before Easter and the resurrection of Christ. At the old town and fishing village of Dragør just 14 km from Copenhagen - "Fastelavn" is traditionally celebrated on horseback.

For visitors and families visiting Copenhagen in February - a fantastic world of play with millions of LEGO building bricks in all colours, sizes and forms awaits at Bella Center. The LEGO brick is a Danish invention and was invented by Toy manufacturer Ole Kirk Christiansen, who produced the first LEGO brick in 1947, and later introduced the bricks in Denmark. 13/04 - THE ELVIS CONCERT - 2024 - Bremen Teater - Copenhagen
Fans of Elvis visiting Copenhagen can experience a live Elvis in concert at Bremen Teater – who has had this show on the program three times, and each time the atmosphere was completely out of the extra ordinary. The audience sang along to hits such as ”Hound Dog”, ”Return To Sender” and 'Suspicious Minds' - plus many more hits song by the King of Rock 'n' Roll". It was as if Elvis Presley himself was present. DWIGHT ICENHOWER (43) is the man who brings the legend back to life, and he is extremely believable as Elvis. 25/04 - 28/04 - COPENHAGEN LINDY EXCHANGE 2024 - Copenhagen
Once again the Copenhagen Lindy Exchange will make Copenhagen buzz with great music, dancing and laughter. For the 14th year in a row we are putting together a program filled with swinging live bands, a grand ballroom to lindy in, a separate blues room for the late nights, and plenty of daytime activities to accommodate most tastes. Copenhagen is especially warm and welcoming in the month of May. The Lindy Exchange organizers can’t wait to welcome you all to five unforgettable days. So come and join this swinging dance event in Copenhagen.
26/04 - THE GREAT PRAYER DAY - (Store Bededag) - Public Danish Holy Day - Denmark
The Great Prayer Day - “Store Bededag” and “Varme hveder” - is the Danes beloved and traditional Holy Day and public holiday. This Christian holy day has a great tradition - as the Danes since 1686 - have eaten a special type of wheaten buns called "hvedeknopper" - or more popular named “varme hveder”. In olden days - and way back in history - all bakeries was closed on this holy day - and people was compelled to buy these “hvederknopper” the evening before "The Great Prayer Day" and had to warm and eat them on the following holy holiday as "varmer hveder". Fresh wheaten buns "varmer hveder" has for generations been a great Danish tradition to eat on the evening and day of “Store Bededag”. And there will be Danish flags on busses & public buildings. Great Prayer Day is also a Great confirmation day in Denmark.

01/05 - THE INTERNATIONAL WORKER’S DAY - Fælledparken - Copenhagen
The International Worker’s Day or Labour Day is celebrated by hundred-thousand in Copenhagen and by millions all over the world. The first Worker’s Day demonstration in Denmark was held at “Fælledparken” - Copenhagen on May 1st in 1890 - to commemorate the victory of the 8-hour working day and free holidays achieved by the Danish worker’s movement and unions. The International Worker’s Day has since been a great public event every year all over Denmark, with many political meetings and other types of festivities and celebrations. It is a full holiday for blue collar workers.
04/05 - HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS 2024 - Royal Arena
Famous Harlem Globetrotters - and basketball showmen par excellence - will visit Copenhagen on their 2024 World Tour and give a basketball performance - that will make basketball enthusiasts cheer and surrender over this fabulous basketball team originated from Chicago that combines athleticism - theatre and comedy in one perfect dunk. The 2024 Marathon Race starts and finishes by the waterfront beside the Royal Library "The Black Diamond". The Feast of the Ascension is one of the great feasts in the Christian liturgical calendar - and commemorates the bodily Ascension of Jesus into heaven. Ascension Day “Kristi Himmelfartsdag” is traditionally celebrated on a Thursday - 40 day after Easter. 10/05 - 12/05 - SALSA-FESTIVAL - 2024 - Kedelhallen - Frederiksberg - Copenhagen

The Whitsun Carnival in Copenhagen (Pinsekarneval) - is a the major event of the year -which attracts Carnival fans and spectators from all over Denmark and Scandinavia. During this 3-day arrangement in and around Copenhagen City from May 17 to 19 - 2024, there will be a lot of fun - music - workshops and dancing performances in colourful costumes and carnival dresses. During the carnival period - there will be many parades with numerous samba bands that will accompany and entertain the dancers and audience during the Carnival Event in Copenhagen.
18/05 - 20/05 - WHITSUN EVENT & WEEKEND (Pinse) - Public Danish Holy Days & Holiday - Denmark
Celebrate the 3-days traditional Danish “Pinse” holy Whitsun holidays (Pentecost) in Copenhagen together with the Danes and Copenhageners - where the Whitsun’s bright warm sun will appear high above and will invite visitors and the sun hungry Danes and Copenhageners outdoors to visit the amusement parks “Bakken” and "Tivoli Gardens” plus arrange Picnic’s and Barbecue activities in open air and out in the wonderful beach and light green forests and woodland areas placed around Copenhagen and Denmark - while some citizens will follow the Whitsun Services in the many historical Churches in the City and beyond - and then enjoy the Grand Whitsun Buffet with great Danish speciality - swallowed down with “snaps” and wine plus draught foaming “beers" - while experiencing the traditional "Whitsun Sun Dancing" in the morning all over Denmark. After the successful and first ROYAL RUN arrangement in 2018 - which was arranged by Crown Prince Frederik’s to celebrate his round 50th years birthday - he has once again arranged for a new Royal Run event on Whitsun Monday - 20th May - 2024 - where everyone can participate and join the entire Royal Danish family running for a one mile run in the streets of Copenhagen. Since June 2002 the Copenhageners no longer need to visit the beaches in the summer season outside of the city to have a fresh swim in crystal clean blue water - as the bathing water around the harbour area has reached a quality equal to the bathing water at the many blue flag beaches on the coastline of Copenhagen. Two free outdoor bathing sites - right in the centre of town - in the harbour area have been established. The stationary bathing facility at Islands Brygge - with a capacity for roughly 600 people - opened in June 2002 near Langebro - and the floating harbour swim bath called Copencabana - close to the shopping mall Fisketorvet - with three basins that cover more than 650 square meters. The bathing facilities have life savers constantly on duty and both bathing places have from the very beginning been a great success. Since – several more Harbour Bathing facilities have been established alongside Copenhagen’s harbour front. The Opening of the harbour bathing season is from June 1st to August 31st - and is a great yearly tradition. Come and join the Copenhageners from 07:00 am to 07:00 pm on weekdays - and Saturday and Sundays from 11:00 am to 07:00 pm.
05/06 - CONSTITUTION DAY 2024 (Grundlovsdag) - Denmark
June 5th is the Danes Constitution day - and the anniversary of signing the first Danish constitution of 1849 - which established Denmark with a constitutional monarchy and since one of the world’s most democratic countries. Constitution Day is a public and national holiday and most shops in Denmark are closed. The Danes just love celebrating their "Grundlovsdag" - that honours democracy in Denmark and is connected with many political speeches plus other types of public events and leisure activities all over Denmark. And there will be Danish flags on busses & public buildings. The day is also Father's Day in Denmark. (Flag Day and Public holiday).

The Nordic Dart Tournament 2024 - consists of eight of the best players in the world - who meet local dart playing qualifiers to crown a Nordic Dart Champion. The reigning world champions will defend his trophy among the other Dart Masters that are expected to participate in Nordic Dart Master’s tournament Copenhagen. 23/06 - SANKT HANS EVE 2024 - Celebrate this yearly traditional event with the Danes
Sankt Hans Aften (St. John’s Eve) was an official religious holiday in Denmark until 1770 - and has since the time of the Vikings been a Danish tradition of celebrating the Midsummer with bonfires and speeches all over the country in the evening of 23th June - 2024. Especially on the coastline of Denmark bonfires are lit to celebrate the midsummer month - and a great tradition is to sing “midsommervisen” – the Midsummer Hymn by Holger Drachmann - “Vi elsker vort land” - We love our Country.

04/07 - REBILD FESTIVAL 2024 - Rebild Nationalpark - Jutland
Every year since July 4th 1912 - thousands of Danish-Americans and their descendants - together with other Danes have joined in the celebration of the American Independence Day on the beautiful heather-covered hills at Rebild National Park in Jutland - just 20 km south of Aalborg. The Rebild Festival is also an expression of gratitude to the land which welcomed more than 300,000 Danish immigrants - and the tradition has been maintained in order to strengthen the ties of friendship between Denmark and USA. On this festival day - Stars and Stripes - and the Danish flag “Dannebrog” are flown side-by-side in natural picturesque surroundings - and as an honour to both countries. US-citizens - who are visiting Copenhagen can experience this festival in Jutland on July 4th. By train or car the trip will take about 4 hours and there is plenty of lodging facilities at Rebild and in Aalborg. This summer the race of a lifetime - IRONMAN will take place in Copenhagen - where all the hard core participants can enjoy a spectator-filled course through historic Copenhagen. Everyone can participate in this 2-days 2024 swimming competition around the 2 km canals of Christiansborg Castle and under 8 bridges, with thousands of cheering spectators. The start point of the race will be at the “Black Diamond” at 9.00 a.m. and will nearly end here too. Test your condition and the fresh waters of Copenhagen harbour. The swimming distance is 1.900 meter - 1.9 km. 05/09 - HONOURING DANISH MILITARY - FLAG DAY - The Citadel & Denmark
September 5th - is every year a Special Flag Day for Honouring Danish military personnel and veterans - who have bravely served Denmark in the many conflict areas abroad - and participated fearlessly in many international missions outside Denmark. The Danes -especially and respectfully honour their brave countrymen - heroic military personal and courageous serving soldiers - who tragically lost their precious lives or were invalidated in action for the course of defending the fight for freedom and peace worldwide - and the Danes are also really proud of their strong and engaged Army forces. Everyone visiting Copenhagen can participate in honouring and commemorating the Danish fallen heroes and veterans at the Army Headquarters on the Citadel grounds (Kastellet) - and old fortification areas of Copenhagen - together with Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary - plus all the deeply affected and mourning families - and representatives from the Danish Military Forces - where the occasion is marked with wreath- laying ceremony at the National Monument - on this special Flag and Memorial Day. The large Memoria Wall - built in pure granite from the Danish Island Bornholm - has a glorifying and thoughtful inscription engraved in Danish. “En tid - Et sted - Et menneske”. One time -One place - One human being.
15/09 - COPENHAGEN HALF MARATHON 2024 - Copenhagen
The CPH Half has become world-wide renowned for it’s super fast course and place to run fast time, and anyone can participate in the CPH Half. Held on traffic-free, wide roads and boulevards, the course is extremely fast and characterized by few and soft curves making for ideal conditions for an enjoyable and fast race, as well as experiencing sightseeing in a cool city. Not only top runners have discovered the potential for running fast times in Copenhagen. Recreational runners and running enthusiasts from all over the world are traveling to Copenhagen to chase a personal best and have an unforgettable experience over the distance of 21.0975 kilometres.
18/09 - 20/09 - ECTRIMS 2024 - Bella Center
ECTRIMS 2024 - will be a momentous event and congress marking the 40th anniversary of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis. ECTRIMS 2024 congress and event will include Scientific Sessions, Hot Topic Sessions, and Educational Sessions, along with selected Free Communications, Young Investigator Sessions, Poster Sessions, and Meet-the-Expert Sessions, as well as celebrating four decades of ground-breaking scientific achievements and successful developments in MS research and treatment.

06/10 - THE EREMITAGE RUN 2024 - The Deer Park
Come and participate for the 55 time - in the world’s first fun and run wellness arrangement called the traditional Eremitage Run north of Copenhagen together with over 20,000 active runners - and 20-30,000 spectators. Run through the 13,3 km tracks around the beautiful Eremitage Plains and experience all the deer’s in the Deer Park and the natural scenic beauty of the forest and woodlands, dressed in Autumn Colours. Meet at the “Red Port” by the Deer Park. The Eremitage run race was held for the first time in 1969.

Explore Copenhagen and all its Cultural venues and events after dark with the Night of Culture Badge. On The Night of Culture 2024 - the aim is to temporarily change the ambience and cultural landscape of Copenhagen. The whole city is an integral part of The Night of Culture - involving major and minor cultural institutions from the main boroughs of Nørrebro - Vesterbro - Christianshavn - Østerbro – Frederiksberg and central Copenhagen. This Cultural evening event appeals to children - couples - families - groups and individuals and offers something for everybody: theatre - music - experimental arts - dancing - city walks - lectures and the list goes on. 12/10 – 16/10 - EUSEM 2024 Congress – Bella Center
The annual European Emergency Medicine Congress is organised by EUSEM for healthcare professionals working in emergency medicine. The congress attracts over 3000 Emergency Medicine specialists from around the world. There are opportunities to learn about the new developments in emergency medicine, share best practices, and network with like-minded people. As well as didactic lectures, the congress also hosts hands-on workshops and team-led education through special events like the SIM Cup. The programme covers from pre-hospital to the emergency department. A focus will be made on groundbreaking research, and EUSEM supports the education and professional development of young doctors through its YEMD track programme. There are a number of sessions and specialized events for young doctors organized by the YEMD section, As well as being a highly valued educational congress, there are many opportunities to network with peers, colleagues, and friends, to discuss new projects, to catch up on recent events, and make new friends and colleagues.

The Christmas events around the city will be a pleasant mixture of choirs singing Danish Christmas Carols - Christmas Brass bands entertaining - Christmas Concerts - Christmas Amusements for children and families - and the longest pedestrian street in the world “Strøget” will be decorated and lit up for Christmas together with all the historical Churches placed around the town - as well as open air eateries and food stands serving delicious Danish Christmas goodies. Santa Claus will be present in the major Departments Stores and also handing out cookies and sweets to all passing by. The major Christmas Markets will be placed at “Kongens Nytorv” - “Nyhavn” - “Town Hall Square” - "Nytorv" - “Christiania” and “Tivoli”. (Admission required at Tivoli) Even the joyful Salvation Army will start to sing Christmas Carols if you don’t donate some funds in their colleting cans.

03/11 - HUBERTUS HUNT - 2024 - The Deer Park (Dyrehaven)
Every year the Eremitage Plain and Deer Park is the centre for the annual and traditional Hubertus Hunt - and since the first hunt with hounds in 1905 - was conducted. The traditional Hubertus Hunt was a race on horses to pursue a fox - but today it is only a fox's tail pinned to the shoulder of the leading rider that the hunters have to chase - and the race on horses with red uniform jackets involves a lot of jumps and leaps - and the biggest challenge is crossing the waters of the “Magasindammen” - The Magasin-Pound - where most of the cheering audience are gathered to experience some of the riders being thrown into the muddy waters of the pound. The Hubertus Hunt has been a great attraction every first Sunday of November - where more than 100 horses and riders in their red uniforms participate in this event that is surrounded by almost 40.000-50.000 enthusiastic spectators every year.c buildings.
26/11 - MICK FLANNERY - Vega - Copenhagen
In the songsmith’s workshop at Vega Concert Hall with the outstanding Mick Flannery. With his empathetic voice and ear for good melodies, Irish singer-songwriter Mick Flannery has released nine studio albums to date, three of which made number one in his home country. In 2022, he released “A Night At The Opera”, which depicts some of the most famous chess games in history. The songs follow the traits of the chess masters, with the lyrics focusing on their often complex lives. The album is published as an NFT, where the buyer buys access to the song and the video produced to go with it. A great concert evening will await fans and the audience, who will be generously entertained by Mick Flannery at Vega.

1/12 – 31/12 - THE TRADITIONNAL CHRISTMAS TREE - Town Hall Square – Copenhagen
The traditional Christmas Tree on the Town Hall Square of Copenhagen will be lit on December 1st, and will sparkle throughout December 2024 - with plenty of Christmas Festivities around the Town Hall Christmas Tree, to celebrate the Danes Christmas month. The first Christmas Tree was lightened at the city Town Hall in 1914 - and this Christmas tradition has been a popular event ever since.
24/12 - CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES ALL OVER DENMARK AND COPENHAGEN
Before starting the traditional Christmas Eve Dinner on December 24 - dancing around the decorated Christmas tree - and then unpacking the many Christmas presents - it’s a great tradition for the Danes to attend their Holy Christmas Eve Services in the afternoon and later the Midnight Masses - where Danish Cathedrals and Churches are packed with joyful Church-goers and a faithful Congregation that occupies the Church pews to the very last seat - looking cheerfully forward - and in a bright Christmas mood to celebrate the birth of the New Born King and Worship Christ. The Danes just love their Christmas Eve Services - and listen to the sound of Church Bells chiming all day long on Christmas Day an Eve.
