- HUBERTUS HUNT - 2026 - The Deer Park (Dyrehaven)
Every year the Eremitage Plain and Deer Park is the centre
for the annual and traditional Hubertus Hunt - and since the
first hunt with hounds in 1905 - was conducted. The traditional
Hubertus Hunt was a race on horses to pursue a fox - but today
it is only a fox's tail pinned to the shoulder of the leading
rider that the hunters have to chase - and the race on horses
with red uniform jackets involves a lot of jumps and leaps
- and the biggest challenge is crossing the waters of the
“Magasindammen” - The Magasin-Pound - where most
of the cheering audience are gathered to experience some of
the riders being thrown into the muddy waters of the pound.
The Hubertus Hunt has been a great attraction every first
Sunday of November - where more than 100 horses and riders
in their red uniforms participate in this event that is surrounded
by almost 40.000-50.000 enthusiastic spectators every year.c

- Celebrating SAINT LUCIA at Christmas Time in Denmark
Visitors in Copenhagen on December
13th - will experience the Christian Lutheran tradition of
celebrating Saint Lucia in Denmark, which originates from
southern Sweden - and is honoured and celebrated annually
on 13th December, as being the longest and darkest night of
the year. The “Sankta Lucia” or the Holy Saint
Lucia Christmas Tradition is celebrated by a Lucia procession
all over in Copenhagen and Denmark particularly in Churches
- institutions - hospitals - public schools etc. by the glow
of the Lucia figure dressed in a flowing gown of white and
afire with a Wreath of Candles upon her head. The Lucia bride
- as she is known is a creature of goodness and light. She
is a shining angel illuminating the way to the Christmas Season
all over Scandinavia. A
new attractive trend the last few years in Copenhagen, is
to celebrate the holy Saint Lucia event on Copenhagen’s
canals, where hundreds of lit-up kayaks float through the
dark waterways around Christiansborg Palace, which gathers
thousands and thousands of Copenhageners and spectators enjoying
this enlightening and spectacular occasion. |
