At this New Year’s Concert - the swinging DR Big Band and a string of strong voices from the Scandinavian jazz scene together with super crooner Curtis Stigers will present musical highlights from a never ending Las Vegas era by duplicating the swinging and jazzy tunes that was performed at The Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas between legendary Frank Sinatra and the Count Basie Orchestra. This will be a memorable concert for all lovers of “Old Blue Eyes” - Ella Fitzgerald and the swinging Count and his Orchestra.

Vinterjazz is a nationwide music festival that takes place in February each year. The festival spans three weeks featuring more than 600 concerts at more than 150 venues from all across Denmark. Visitors in Copenhagen will in February 2023 experience youngsters of all ages dressed up in colourful costumes of their favourite idols and attend the “Fastelavn” feast by competing to smash the wooden barrel with a lot of “goodies" inside. The Danish Tradition of Fastelavn is also called the “Nordic Halloween” - and can trace its origins to the Christian observance to mark the time before Easter and the resurrection of Christ. At the old town and fishing village of Dragør just 14 km from Copenhagen - "Fastelavn" is traditionally celebrated on horseback.

Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition 2023. Visitors visiting Copenhagen and fans of Danish Composer Carl Nielsen, should use this opportunity to visit the imposing Black Diamond Complex, and hear Carl Nielsen's chamber music interpreted by the best young musicians from all over the world when three of the country's major cultural institutions – DR, Royal Danish Library and Royal Danish Academy of Music - once again hold the semi-finals of the major international music competition, in the two categories: String Quartet and Wind Quintet. Trio con Brio Copenhagen with viola player Tatjana Masurenko, will perform classical music pieces by Mozart, Brahms and Kodaly, plus play a programme inspired by folk music. Trio con Brio Copenhagen is a famous piano, violin and cello trio and a celebrated ensemble at the Black Diamond’s Concert Hall. At this evening's concert, the trio will be joined by Tatjana Masurenko, one of the world's leading violists, and will play a programme centred on folk music inspired by a classical repertoire, but also on Mozart's first piano quartet from 1785, which is considered the first significant work for this ensemble. 01/05 - THE INTERNATIONAL WORKER’S DAY - Fælledparken - Copenhagen
The International Worker’s Day or Labour Day is celebrated by hundred-thousand in Copenhagen and by millions all over the world. The first Worker’s Day demonstration in Denmark was held at “Fælledparken” - Copenhagen on May 1st in 1890 - to commemorate the victory of the 8-hour working day and free holidays achieved by the Danish worker’s movement and unions. The International Worker’s Day has since been a great public event every year all over Denmark, with many political meetings and other types of festivities and celebrations. It is a full holiday for blue collar workers.

05/05 - THE GREAT PRAYER DAY - Public Holy Day & National Holiday
The Great Prayer Day - “Store Bededag” and “Varme hveder” - is the Danes most beloved and traditional Holy Day and a grand National public holiday. This Christian holy day has a great tradition - as the Danes since 1686 - have eaten a special type of wheaten buns called "hvedeknopper" - or more popular named “varme hveder”. In olden days - and way back in history - all bakeries was closed on this holy day - and people was compelled to buy these “hvederknopper” the evening before "The Great Prayer Day" and had to warm and eat them on the following holy holiday as "varmer hveder". Fresh wheaten buns "varmer hveder" has for generations been a great Danish tradition to eat on the evening and day of “Store Bededag”. And there will be Danish flags on busses & public buildings. Great Prayer Day is also a Great confirmation day in Denmark.

05/05 - 07/05 - COPENHAGEN LINDY EXCHANGE 2023 - Copenhagen
Once again the Copenhagen Lindy Exchange will make Copenhagen buzz with great music, dancing and laughter. For the 8th year in a row we are putting together a program filled with swinging live bands, a grand ballroom to lindy in, a separate blues room for the late nights, and plenty of daytime activities to accommodate most tastes. Copenhagen is especially warm and welcoming in the month of May. And we can’t wait to welcome you all to three unforgettable days in our wonderful city.


10/05 - MANFRED MANN’s EARTH BAND - Amager Bio - Copenhagen
Manfred Mann's Earth Band returns to Denmark and will give a hitting concert at Amager bio - to treat their many fans with genuine soul-rock music - which still is the famous group's trademark and characteristic music style. The group is named after their keyboardist Manfred Mann - who later formed and led the successful British group Manfred Mann's Earth Band in the 1970s - and the band have since produced and released over 30 Albums.


12/05 - 13/05 - COPENHAGEN BEER FESTIVAL 2023 - Copenhagen
Danish Beer enthusiast arrange every year their annual Copenhagen Beer Festival (Ølfestival) - where all players from the Danish brewery industry and minor microbreweries - as well as foreign beer breweries - meet to present their beers - and where the audience can taste as much as they like of the different beer types and sorts. 29/05 - ROYAL RUN COPENHAGEN 2023 - HRH Crown Prince Frederik
After the successful and first ROYAL RUN arrangement in 2018 - which was arranged by Crown Prince Frederik’s to celebrate his round 50th years birthday - the Crown Prince of Denmark has once again arranged for a new Royal Run event on Whitsun Monday - 29th May - 2023 - where everyone can participate and join the Danish Crown Prince and his family running for a one mile run in the streets of Copenhagen. The Royal Run will start and end at Amalienborg Palace - and nearly 100.000 runners are expected to participate in this traditional Royal Run event in the streets of Copenhagen together with thousands of cheering spectators and fans on the Royal Running route. The Royal Run has turned into a popular annual event across the Danish Nation - and is a sport festival that appeals to thousands of runners on all skill levels.

Since June 2002 the Copenhageners no longer need to visit the beaches in the summer season outside of the city to have a fresh swim in crystal clean blue water - as the bathing water around the harbour area has reached a quality equal to the bathing water at the many blue flag beaches on the coastline of Copenhagen. Two free outdoor bathing sites - right in the centre of town - in the harbour area have been established. The stationary bathing facility at Islands Brygge - with a capacity for roughly 600 people - opened in June 2002 near Langebro - and the floating harbour swim bath called Copencabana - close to the shopping mall Fisketorvet - with three basins that cover more than 650 square meters. The bathing facilities have life savers constantly on duty and both bathing places have from the very beginning been a great success. The Opening of the harbour bathing season is from June 1st to August 31st and is a great yearly tradition. Come and join the Copenhageners from 07:00 am to 07:00 pm on weekdays - and Saturday and Sundays from 11:00 am to 07:00 pm.

02/06 - 04/06 - ROSKILDE AGRICULTURAL & CATTLE SHOW 2023 - Roskilde
The 53 yearly and traditional Agricultural & Cattle Show 2023 - at Roskilde - where farmers and other professionals from the agricultural sector meet and greet with country residents and city folks at this venue - and where farmers exhibit their most magnificent prime specimens - 2000 different livestock’s and agricultural machinery plus accessories for leisure - outdoor living and professional use. There will be special exhibitions on hunting - forestry - children's animal show and foodstuff. Last year almost 90,000 spectators visited the Agricultural Show venue at Roskilde. There will also be plentiful of tastings - competitions & demonstrations.


05/06 - CONSTITUTION DAY (Grundlovsdag) - 5 June - Denmark
June 5th is the Danes constitutional day - and the anniversary of signing the first Danish constitution in 1849 - which established Denmark as a constitutional monarchy and since one of the world’s most democratic countries. Constitution Day is a public and national holiday and most shops in Denmark are closed. The Danes just love celebrating their "Grundlovsdag" - that introduced democracy in Denmark - which is connected with many political speeches plus other types of public events and leisure activities all over Denmark. 15/06 - DANNEBROG Celebration - Valdemar’s Day - Denmark
All over Denmark - the Danes will celebrate Valdemar’s Day and their beloved flag “Dannebrog” on June 15th - 2023 - which became the Danes national flag - when it fell down from the sky in Estonia in 1219 - according to the everlasting myth and treasured legend. In 2019 - the Danes celebrated the 800 year anniversary of “Dannebrog”.


15/06 - 18/06 - AROUND ZEALAND REGATTA 2023 - Elsinore
The Classic boat race can celebrate its 77th year anniversary with over 2000 sailing ships. Around Zealand Regatta 2023 - starts and ends at Elsinore port. The sailing ships can be seen from Copenhagen's coast. The sailing race is a national event and experience lasting 2-3 days and covers a course of 232 nautical miles around the Ilse of Zealand. Sankt Hans Aften (St. John’s Eve) was an official religious holiday in Denmark until 1770 - and has since the time of the Vikings been a Danish tradition of celebrating the Midsummer with bonfires and speeches all over the country in the evening of 23th June - 2023. Every year since July 4th 1912 - thousands of Danish-Americans and their descendants - together with other Danes have joined in the celebration of the American Independence Day on the beautiful heather-covered hills at Rebild National Park in Jutland - just 20 km south of Aalborg. The Rebild Festival is also an expression of gratitude to the land which welcomed more than 300,000 Danish immigrants - and the tradition has been maintained in order to strengthen the ties of friendship between Denmark and USA. On this festival day - Stars and Stripes - and the Danish flag “Dannebrog” are flown side-by-side in natural picturesque surroundings - and as an honour to both countries. US-citizens - who are visiting Copenhagen can experience this festival in Jutland on July 4th. Tourist and sightseers in Copenhagen can participate in the celebration of the Little Mermaid’s birthday - as the sculpture of the Little Mermaid at the entrance to Copenhagen Port was raised on August 23 - 1913 - and was a gift to the city from Danish brewer and founder of Ny Carlsberg - Carl Jacobsen. This year she is celebrating her 120 year old birthday and she will be happy if everyone from countries outside Denmark will come and celebrate her together with many mermaid’s swimming around her famous bronze stature. 25/08 - 26/08 - SWIMMING THE CANALS OF CHRISTIANSBORG 2023 - Copenhagen
Everyone can participate in this 2-days 2023 swimming competition around the 2 km canals of Christiansborg Castle and under 8 bridges, with thousands of cheering spectators. The start point of the race will be at the “Black Diamond” at 9.00 a.m. and will nearly end here too. Test your condition and the fresh waters of Copenhagen harbour. The swimming distance is 1.900 meter - 1.9 km. 30/09 - MANIA - THE ABBA TRIBUTE - Viften - Rødovre
A great tribute to legendary ABBA. The ONLY ABBA Cover show with Former Original Band members of ABBA and a Symphony Section!!! Everywhere the MANIA show has played, it has been welcomed very much and it has created another ABBA fever. The audiences are going bananas during thia ABBA Show and are really truly enjoying themselves. One cannot help singing and dancing in the aisles when MANIA - THE ABBA TRIBUTE plays some of the greatest ABBA hits from 1969 until 1982. Warming up for Christmas holydays and holidays in November and December - the major Christmas Markets will be placed alongside the pedestrian street “Strøget” - “Kongens Nytorv” - “Nyhavn” - “Town Hall Square” - "Nytorv" - “Christiania” and “Tivoli”. (Admission required at Tivoli) Even the joyful Salvation Army will start to sing Christmas Carols if you don’t donate some funds in their colleting cans.


05/11 - HUBERTUS HUNT - 2023 - The Deer Park
The annually Hubertus Hunt 2023 will take place at The Deer Park ”Dyrehaven” north of Copenhagen. Between 40,000-50,000 spectators will attend to watch over 90 horses riders in their red hunting uniforms along the route with many exciting hindrances.

THE SNOW QUEEN - is a Christmas Ballet for the entire family that transforms the Tivoli Concert Hall into pure magic with impressive pirouettes - glittering stars - symphonic music and an enchanting fairytale atmosphere. Queen Margrethe’s is behind the creative design of costumes for all the ballet performers - and the choreography is by award-winning Yuri Possokhov. The ballet will be accompanied for the first time by Tivoli’s own symphony orchestra - the Tivoli Copenhagen Phil - which numbers 70 permanent musicians. The Snow Queen tickets include entrance to the Tivoli Gardens Christmas Market. Hans Cristian Andersen wrote the fairy tale about the Snow Queen in 1844.

03/12 - CHRISTMAS TREE - 2023 - Town Hall Square - Copenhagen
On the first Sunday of Advent 3. December 2023 - the traditional Christmas Tree on the Town Hall Square of Copenhagen will be lit at 16:00 PM - with plenty of Christmas Festivities and packed with excited children starting to celebrate Christmas. The first Christmas Tree was lightened at the city Town Hall in 1914 - and this Christmas tradition has been a popular event ever since.

24/12 - CHRISTMAS EVE CELEBRATION - DENMARK
The Danes celebrate their Christmas Eve - all over the Danish Kingdom - on December 24th - and the Danes just love all of the Christmas traditions - which is marked all over Denmark. On Christmas Eve - December 24th - and after a hefty Christmas Dinner with roasted pork and duck - the decorated Christmas tree (Juletræ) is lit - often with real candles - and all the presents are stored under the tree. It is a custom that everyone after dinner dances around the Christmas tree - and sings all the old traditional Christmas songs and carols. After this ceremony - the gifts are dispersed and unpacked. Normally Christmas Eve lasts to about 12:00 midnight.


24/12 - CHRISTMAS SERVICE - Copenhagen Cathedral
Christmas Mass on Christmas Eve 2023 at Copenhagen Cathedral with concerts and traditional Danish Christmas Carols and hymns. This is a festive celebration in Copenhagen largest church with plenty of joyful participants - and any one can be a part of this festive Christmas Service.
