Borge - The funniest pianist on Earth
The Washington Post once called Victor Borge "the funniest
pianist on Earth". He was born in Copenhagen in 1909
and his birth name was – Børge Rosenbaum.
He left Denmark at the start of World War II, to create a new
career in the United States and was best known here as a comedian.
In America he learned English, took the name Victor
Borge, and became a popular radio and TV star. Since
then he became a US citizen and one of the highest paid entertainers
in the US, and kept up a busy career into his 80s. Victor Borge
died in 2000. |
