27/04 - THE GREAT PRAYER DAY - Public Danish Holy Day
The Great Prayer Day - “Store Bededag” and “Varme hveder”. This Christian holy day has a great tradition - as the Danes since 1686 - have eaten a special type of wheaten buns called "hvedeknopper" - or more popular named “varme hveder”. In olden days - and way back in history - all bakeries was closed on this holy day - and people was compelled to buy these “hvederknopper” the evening before "The Great Prayer Day" and had to warm and eat them on the following holy holiday as "varmer hveder". Fresh wheaten buns "varmer hveder" has for generations been a great Danish tradition to eat on the evening and day of “Store Bededag”. And there will be Danish flags on busses & public buildings.

The stationary bathing facility at Islands Brygge - with a capacity for roughly 600 people - opened in June 2002 near Langebro - and the floating harbour swim bath called Copencabana - close to the shopping mall Fisketorvet - with three basins that cover more than 650 square meters. The bathing facilities have life savers constantly on duty and both bathing places have from the very beginning been a great success. The Opening of the harbour bathing season is from June 1st to August 31st and is a great yearly tradition. Every year since July 4th 1912 - thousands of Danish-Americans and their descendants - together with other Danes have joined in the celebration of the American Independence Day on the beautiful heather-covered hills at Rebild National Park in Jutland - just 20 km south of Aalborg. The Rebild Festival is also an expression of gratitude to the land which welcomed more than 300,000 Danish immigrants - and the tradition has been maintained in order to strengthen the ties of friendship between Denmark and USA. On this festival day - Stars and Stripes - and the Danish flag “Dannebrog” are flown side-by-side in natural picturesque surroundings - and as an honour to both countries. US-citizens - who are visiting Copenhagen can experience this festival in Jutland on July 4th. Copenhagen Half Marathon 2017 - will start and end at ØsterAllé near the National Stadium Parken - and is Denmark’s new world class race through the historic city of Copenhagen. the Half Marathon has turned into an popular event for the runners as well as for the many cheering fans and spectators along side the 21.1 km. Half Marathon route. The Half Marathon competition is organised by The Danish Athletic Federation and Sparta Athletics & Running. Copenhagen Half Marathon has been awarded the prestigious silver label by IAAF - the International Association of Athletics Federations. This label is awarded exclusively to the world’s best road races.

29/09 - 30/09 - U2 - experience + innocence tour 2018 - Royal Arena
U2 - the Irish rock band from Dublin formed in 1976 - with Bono - the Edge - Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. will pass Copenhagen on their experience + innocence tour and perform at two concerts for their many fans and present some songs from their new album “Songs of Experience”.

07/10 - THE ERIMITAGE RUN 2018 - The Deer Park
Come and participate for the 49th time - in the world’s first fun and run wellness arrangement called the traditional Erimitage Run north of Copenhagen together with over 20,000 active runners - and 60-70,000 spectators. Run through the 13,3 km tracks around the beautiful Eremitage Plains and experience all the deer’s in the Deer Park and the natural scenic beauty of the forest and woodlands. 12/10 - THE NIGHT OF CULTURE - 2018 - Copenhagen

The 18th Blues Festival season 2018 - presents more than 80 blues-concerts with thrilling international and Danish blues acts at 40 large and small venues all over Copenhagen. "The Danish Blues Artist of the Year" award is being revealed at the opening ceremony of the festival.

04/11 - HUBERTUS HUNT - 2018 - Dyrehaven
The annually Hubertus Hunt 2018 (Fox Hunt) will take place at ”Dyrehaven” north of Copenhagen. Between 40,000-50,000 spectators will attend to watch over 90 horses riders in their red hunting uniforms along the route with many exciting hindrances.


23/11 - KYLIE MINOGUE - The Opera
Australian-British singer - actress - pop diva Kylie Minogue will visit Copenhagen and give a concert at The Opera. She is recognised as the highest-selling Australian artist of all time by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) - and Her latest album Golden was released on 6 April 2018 - debuting at No. 1 in the UK and Australia.


23/11 - 23/12 - THE NUTCRACKER - Christmas Ballet - Tivoli Concert Hall
The Nutcracker is a Christmas Ballet for the entire family that transforms the Tivoli Concert Hall into pure magic with impressive pirouettes - glittering stars - symphonic music and an enchanting fairytale atmosphere. Queen Margrethe’s is behind the creative design of costumes for the ballet performance - and the choreography is by Peter Bo Bendixen - Tivoli’s Artistic Director. The ballet will be accompanied for the first time by Tivoli’s own symphony orchestra - the Tivoli Copenhagen Phil - which numbers 70 permanent musicians. The Nutcracker tickets include the entrance to the Tivoli Gardens Christmas Market.


30/11 - PAUL MCCARTNEY - Royal Arena
Legendary song writer - singer - musician and ex-Beatle - Paul McCartney will visit Copenhagen on his "Freshen Up" Tour and give a concert in Royal Arena.

01/12 - CAROLINE HENDERSON-Christmas Concert - St. Jakobs Church
The wonderful Danish Jazz Diva Caroline Henderson will give two Christmas Concerts at the Christians Church in Copenhagen in December - 2018. 01/12 - 24/12 - CHRISTMAS MARKETS - 2018 - Copenhagen Christmas Events
The major Christmas Markets will be placed alongside the pedestrian street “Strøget” - “Kongens Nytorv” - “Nyhavn” - “Town Hall Square” - "Nytorv" - “Christiania” and “Tivoli”. (Admission required at Tivoli) Even the joyful Salvation Army will start to sing Christmas Carols if you don’t donate some funds in their colleting cans.


02/12 - CHRISTMAS TREE 2018 - Town Hall Square - Copenhagen
Up to the first Sunday of Advent - the traditional Christmas Tree on the Town Hall Square of Copenhagen will be lit at 16:00 PM - with plenty of Christmas Festivities and packed with excited children starting to celebrate Christmas. This year - it is 103 year since the first Christmas Tree was lightened at the city Town Hall.

American super star and international Ikon Mariah Carey will visit Copenhagen on her “All I want for Christmas is you” Europe Tour and present her Christmas Opus and Album "Merry Christmas" - which is still the most selling Christmas Album with more than 14 million sold copies worldwide.


11/12 - PAUL POTTS - Christmas Concert - Christians Church
The singing telephone seller Paul Potts - who became world famous after his appearance in Britain’s Got Talent - will celebrate his 11 year jubilee on stage - and give a concert at the Christian Church - located on the isle of Amager.


24/12 - CHRISTMAS SERVICE - Copenhagen Cathedral
Christmas Mass on Christmas Eve at Copenhagen Cathedral with concerts and traditional Danish Christmas Carols and hymns. This is a festive celebration in Copenhagen largest church with plenty of joyful participants - and any one can be a part of this festive Christmas Service.
